About Us

Henry W. Brown began his private legal practice in January 2022 where he focuses on mediation and arbitration services with a concentration on construction and commercial matters. Henry has resolved several hundred mediations and arbitrations, as well as representing parties in both mediation and arbitration. He has conducted numerous arbitrations as a single arbitrator and as a member of a three-person panel.

Prior to opening his own law firm, Henry practiced construction and commercial litigation with Nexsen Pruet in Columbia for 31 years. During that time, he taught the South Carolina Bar Sponsored Arbitration course, where he also served four years on the Bar’s ADR Committee. He has attended the Harvard summer program for negotiation as further training for mediation. He was in the first group of mediators certified by by the South Carolina Supreme Court based on the training received in the Harvard Summer program.

Henry earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Furman University in 1973. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1976. He has maintained an AV rating through Martindale Hubble throughout his career. For the last 20 years, he has been included in the Best Lawyers in America listing by Best Lawyers and U.S. News & World Report.
